The browser Brave was officially released recently. I started using Brave a few months ago and switched to it as my main browser this summer (2019).
They provide an interesting business model where you can get blockchain-based tokens every time you see the ads on the browser Brave.
Do you believe that?
I was suspicious, but it seems I have earned some tokens.
About the browser Brave
Brave is a newborn browser which blocks unwanted ads and keeps your data and privacy. As they say, “Our servers neither see nor store your browsing data – it stays private, on your devices, until you delete it.”
Because it can block the unwanted ads, so we can browse faster than other browsers, they say. I also feel that it is faster than others.
Brave loads major news sites 2 to 8 times faster than Chrome/Safari on mobile and 2 times faster than Chrome on desktop.(https://brave.com/)
At the same time, they also provide an interesting rewards system.
You can control the number of private ads you’d like to see, and earn 70% of the ad revenue that we receive from advertisers.
You can block all of the ads, but if you can accept “privacy-respecting ads”, you can earn rewards by viewing the ads after joining “Brave Rewards”.
Can this kind of ecosystem really exist? Anyway, I joined their Brave Rewards.
Brave 1.0 officially released in this month
Recently, they announced that Brave 1.0 was released. After their announcement, more and more people started paying attention to them.
Honestly speaking, I almost forgot that I had turned on their Brave Rewards until I saw their announcement. Then, I checked my wallet for the first time in a long time.
How much I have earned on Brave?
I was knowing that their ads were popping up on my PC sometimes when I was using the browser Brave.
It says that I have earned 120.4 BAT, $30.53 USD equivalent in this month so far (until 15 November 2019).
$30.53 USD for only viewing their ads? Is this real?
Can I withdraw the earning on Brave Rewards?
What can I do to prove that this is not just pie in the sky?
Brave recommends supporting your favourite content creators with your earning by viewing ads. It could be a nice world if everyone tips their earning through the ads onto the web-creators.
However, I am curious if I can take cash from them.
Their tokens, BAT can be converted into a currency such as USD, CAD or JPY, depending on the users choice via Uphold.
I knew about Uphold, but I hadn’t activated it yet. So, I activated my account on Uphold and managed to move my BAT on Brave Rewards into my Uphold account.
My CAD is in my account but…
This is my Uphold account. There is some BAT and they say that it is equivalent $22.11 CAD. I truly got some tokens from them and it looks worth some money on my screen.
By the way, as I was writing this article, it went down to $21.86 CAD. It is a kind of crypto, so the value goes up and down from time to time.
Then, I tried to connect my Uphold account to my bank account to withdraw my money, but it didn’t work. Unfortunately, Uphold doesn’t cover the banks in Canada, nor Japan yet.
Where does Uphold offer bank account funding and withdrawals?
Direct bank account funding and withdrawals are currently offered to Uphold members in the following countries:Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States and United Kingdom*.
There are certain daily, weekly, and monthly limits for transactions. Please read more about these limits here.
Important Note: Account funding and withdrawals in the United Kingdom are currently EURO only, our GBP pound sterling support will be temporarily suspending as of [7.20.18].
If your bank account is based in the U.S. or U.K., you can withdraw the cash from them (only Euro for Banks in the U.K).
I guess I need to wait until they can accept Canadian banks.
