A Looming City

I was waiting for a bus
and it happened

flame, smoke,
barricades, confusion,
vulnerable people
and armed authority

It used to be glittering
It used to be organised
There used to be lots of laughs
They used to have freedom

Friends’ smiles were robbed
Their normal lives got crumbled
Familiar things have become no longer familiar

I was waiting for a bus
but I don’t know where to go
in this looming city.
